Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

1. Introduction

The Legal Social ("TLS", "we", "us", or "our") operates a global social platform for the legal community, connecting lawyers, legal professionals, students, and members of the public interested in legal topics. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our website, mobile apps, or related services (the "Service"), you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, information we receive automatically when you use the Service, and information from third-party sign-in providers. Categories include:

  • Account data: email address, name, and profile details.
  • Profile data: photo, headline, bar admission, firm, practice areas, location, and other fields you choose to add.
  • User-generated content: posts, comments, messages, community submissions, votes, and uploads.
  • Device and usage data: device identifiers, operating system, app version, IP address, and general location derived from IP.
  • Diagnostic data: crash reports and error logs used to maintain service reliability.
  • Product analytics events: pages or screens viewed, features used, and similar aggregated events.

3. How we use information

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
  • To personalize content, recommendations, and connections to other members.
  • To communicate with you about updates, security alerts, and support matters.
  • To improve the Service, including measuring feature usage and diagnosing issues.
  • To protect the integrity of the Service, detect abuse, and enforce our Terms.

4. Sign-in providers

We support sign-in via Google, LinkedIn, and Apple. When you choose to sign in with one of these providers, the provider shares a limited set of OAuth profile data with us (typically name, email address, and a stable user identifier). We do not receive your password. You may revoke our access at any time through your provider's account settings.

5. Third-party services

We use a small number of service providers to operate the Service:

  • Sentry — crash reporting and error monitoring.
  • PostHog — product analytics for aggregated usage insights.
  • Future payment processors — including Razorpay, Apple In-App Purchase, and Google Play Billing — when paid features are introduced.

We do not use advertising networks, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

6. Data retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we anonymize associated records so that you are no longer personally identifiable in them. You may request full deletion of your personal data by contacting us at the address below; we will honor such requests subject to legal, security, and fraud-prevention obligations.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and California have additional rights under the GDPR and CCPA, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. You can exercise these rights by emailing us at the address at the end of this policy.

8. Children

The Service is intended exclusively for legal professionals and adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. Registration requires professional credentials to enforce this restriction.

If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, or if you encounter any content that exploits or endangers minors, please contact us immediately at safety@thelegalsocial.com. We will investigate and take prompt action, including account removal and reporting to relevant authorities where required by law.

9. International transfers

We operate globally. Your information may be stored and processed in the United States, India, and other locations where our service providers maintain infrastructure. We take reasonable steps to ensure that any such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a minimal set of cookies and similar storage. Session and authentication tokens are stored in your browser's local storage or secure device storage so you can stay signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated policy on this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
